About the position:
You’ll play a key role in ensuring accurate, timely, and high-quality financial reporting while maintaining compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements. This position also involves overseeing the work of a bookkeeper, ensuring efficient transaction processing and adherence to financial policies.

Key responsibilities
Financial reporting and compliance
- Prepare and review monthly management accounts, ensuring accuracy in journals, invoicing, accruals, and reconciliations.
- Generate financial reporting packs with variance analysis against budget and forecasts.
- Ensure timely and accurate bank reconciliations and review weekly payment batches, reimbursements, and general ledger coding.
- Manage regulatory compliance requirements, including BAS, payroll tax, FBT, and income tax returns.
- Lead external audits, ensuring timely and compliant statutory financial reporting.
- Maintain Expected Credit Loss (ECL) calculations and oversee financial obligations.
- Oversee liquidity calculations including capital calls and fund transfers.
Operational support and system improvement
- Support system design, implementation, and maintenance for accounting-related applications.
- Prepare quarterly checklists and cash flow reports for financial services license compliance.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support decision-making.
What you’ll bring to the role
- CA/CPA qualified with tertiary qualifications in finance, accounting, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience, preferably in funds management, private equity, construction, or property development.
- Prior experience at a Big Four accounting firm, mid-tier accounting firm or an ASX-listed company is advantageous.
- Strong technical accounting expertise with a deep understanding of Australian Accounting Standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics NAV or similar accounting software with advanced skills in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
